1. Blades for Vertical Form Fill Seal Machines (VFFS Blades)

        Working Principle: Materials enter the bag tube from top to bottom, and the blade completes the horizontal sealing and cutting of the packaging bag in the vertical direction, forming a three-sided or four-sided sealed bag type.

   Blade Types and Characteristics:

   1.1.  Structural Design:

          - Mainly horizontal sealing and cutting knives, usually long strips with serrations (such as 3×3.5 or 4×4 triangular teeth). The reverse side is designed with a slope to form a V-shaped easy-tear opening.
          - Common specifications: 165×55×1.5mm, 240×70×2.5mm, etc. They are usually processed and customized according to samples and drawings.

   2.2.  Material and Process:

          - Material: Stainless steel (such as 440C/420J2), D2, high-speed steel are preferred, which take both corrosion resistance and wear resistance into account, with hardness reaching HRC 54-59.

          - Processing: High-precision wire cutting and CBN grinding wheel grinding are adopted to ensure sharp cutting edges and flatness of the plane ≤ 0.01mm.

   3.3.  Core Applications:

         - Applicable products: Granular/powdered food (coffee, condiments), daily chemicals (shampoo samples), pharmaceutical tablets and other small and light items that need to be packed in upright bags.

         - Functional requirements: The cut should be burr-free, easy to tear, and resistant to humid environments (such as frozen food packaging).

   4.4.  Maintenance Points: - Regularly clean residual film debris with alcohol and lubricate the knife holder bearings; check the cutting edge wear every shift and replace it in time. 

   

   
   

2. Blades for Horizontal Form Fill Seal Machines (HFFS Blades)

        Working Principle: The product is wrapped in a film into a "pillow shape", and the blade cuts off synchronously after horizontal heat sealing, forming a continuous assembly line packaging.

   Blade Types and Characteristics:

   1.1. Structural Design:

        - Composed of fixed blades and moving blades. Patterned knives (such as crocodile teeth, wave teeth) are common, used for synchronous indentation and cutting. - Specification examples: 130×10×4mm, 200×14×4mm, etc.

   2.2. Material and Process:

        - Material: Mainly high-speed steel M2, M35, M42, with hardness reaching HRC 61-63; cemented carbide can be selected for high-strength scenarios.

        - Heat treatment: Multi-stage tempering to reduce deformation, and the inner side of the teeth is polished to reduce friction.

   3.3. Core Applications:

        - Applicable products: Regular block items (biscuits, soap), industrial parts (hardware accessories), medicine boxes, etc. for high-speed line packaging (speed up to 230 bags/minute).

         - Functional requirements: It needs to withstand high-temperature heat sealing (about 180℃), and the cut should be flat with clear patterns.

   4.4. Maintenance Points:

         - Clean heat-sealing residues and lubricate the guide rail every week; regularly calibrate the parallelism of the blades to avoid incomplete cutting or offset sealing.

   

   
   

3. Industry Applications and Selection Suggestions

   - Food industry: Vertical blades are used for sauce packets (440C for rust prevention); horizontal serrated blades are used for cutting biscuits (high-speed steel for wear resistance).

   - Industrial/pharmaceutical: Vertical blades are used for cutting medicine plates (precision and burr-free); horizontal blades are used for packaging medical devices (patterns ensure sealing performance).

   - Selection notes:

   - For vertical packaging machines, stainless steel materials are preferred to cope with humid environments;
